May 2009 - Innovative Investment strengthens Charity Business

Charity Business, have successfully finalised capital investment to assist with new client acquisition from social finance specialists, Triodos Bank. This is the first investment through the Triodos Opportunities Fund, a ground breaking venture capital fund for social enterprises with a proven business model.

April 2009 - New Research on Potential for Charity Outsourcing

An independent study conducted by the ESRC Research Centre for Charitable Giving and Philanthropy at Cass Business School found that outsourcing could be a viable and valuable alternative and can often bring expertise and skills which are otherwise lacking to charities.  Professor Cathy Pharoah, co-author of the research said, “What our research shows more than anything is that the market for charitable outsourcing is robust and we would encourage chief executives to evaluate their options for sourcing some of their services to external specialists.”

February 2009 - Board Appointment

Charity Business is very pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Paul Palmer as a Non-Executive Board member.  The new appointment has been made in order to strengthen the Board of Directors knowledge of and improve its links with the not-for-profit sector.  In addition, the wealth of knowledge Paul brings on charity legislation, governance and best practice will help to support Charity Business and the services it is delivering.

January 2009 - Brand Refocus

To support challenging growth plans and in response to research published in April 09, Charity Business has rebranded its message and appearance. The new branding incorporates a new logo and strap-line which focuses on the vision of driving and supporting charities to achieve more through business thinking.

October 2007 - Board Appointment

New board appointment improves financial services links within the charity sector.  Tracey Reddings, Executive Director of Charity Financial Services at CAF (Charities Aid Foundation) and Chief Executive of CAF Bank Ltd brings a wealth of charity and financial services expertise to the Board. Post script: Tracey is now Head of UK Private Banking for SG Hambros.

October 2007 - Office Move

Due to continued growth and expansion, Charity Business has moved its main offices to Kembrey Park in Swindon, Wiltshire and now occupy 6,200 sq ft within 4 units. 

 

Research findings

'Three quarters of those surveyed - senior management staff at more than 450 organisations with an annual income of between £1m and £10m – said that outsourcing has a significant role to play during the recession.'
